Deep Relaxation Response

Bowen for Horses and Companion Animals

Bowen is a very dynamic technique which signals the brain to initiate the healing process.  These signals are sent via specialized nerve cells found in the fascia or covering of the muscle.  By applying the moves over the muscles in specific areas in a sequence, the body receives the message to take the spasm out of that muscle.  This gives the body a chance to achieve balance, which promotes the well-being of the whole horse. Bowen is not a replacement for Veterinary advice.

Bowen consists of gentle rolling, sequential moves over specific points of the muscular fascia. Energy flows are stimulated & balanced, encouraging the body to reset and heal itself, producing rapid & lasting relief from pain & discomfort.

Equine CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a safe, gentle and effective manual therapy that works by facilitating the body’s own natural healing powers to remove or lessen the negative effects of stress on the Central Nervous System. It works by treating a physiological system known as the CranioSacral System which houses and protects the CNS (brain and spinal cord), as well as keeping it functioning smoothly.

Increased Blood Flow

The craniosacral system is made up of the protective membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and the bones to which the membranes attach, all the way from the head to the tail.

Therefore, CST addresses restrictions to the physiological motion of the cranial vault, the cervical spine, the thoracolumbar spine, the sacro-pelvic region, the coccygeal region, and all of its fascial connections, including the extremities.

Equine CranioSacral integrates beautifully with Bowen.

Testimonials

“Thank you to Elizabeth for her work on my pony colt.  He had a serious injury from a huge wipe-out and his motor function was impaired. I tried all sorts of different treatments, some helped a little, some not at all, but the results from only two sessions of Bowen are the most remarkable! Where he could not properly lift his hind feet, or engage his rear end, he is now running and bucking, and trotting out like he did before his accident. What a wonderful thing to see! It was not invasive, it was not painful or stressful in any way and the results are there!”

“I must admit that when I first contacted Elizabeth Sleight about Bowen, I didn’t have much faith and it was basically a last ditch effort to save little Biskit, my poodle. Biskit was diagnosed with a neck injury which was likely incurred during the delivery process. … Biskit had approximately 5 Bowen sessions over 6 months. From the first session, she never looked back. Elizabeth warned me to expect a little down time after her first session. Much to my surprise, there was no down time and it was like she instantly felt relief. She steadily improved and Biskit is just like a new dog. She now plays, loves to eat, wags her tail and is so happy acting. These activities may seem insignificant when you have a healthy animal but, trust me, there isn’t a day that goes by that I am not thankful and amazed at the changes in Biskit. The pigment in her coat and nose is also gradually returning. Without a doubt, Bowen saved Biskit’s life and it has definitely made a believer out of me!”
